Free film screening: Voices of Transition

Time: 5 – 6.30 PM

Venue: MMU Business School, G.33

Voices of Transition is a documentary about farmers and communities from France, Cuba and the UK, and the ways that they are responding to food insecurity, as a result of Climate Change.  The film gives us inspiration as to what the future of food could look like.

11, 12, 13 February

Recycling audits in MMU Halls

The Big Impact team carry out recycling audits in halls every term.  Each flat/house is scored on their recycling.  The flat with the highest score at the end of the year wins a meal cooked for them by a chef in their flat!  Find out more and to see what can be recycled click here

Details are still being finalised for these two weeks, but expect some interesting and exciting events. Watch this space!

 

26 February

Free film screening of Disruption & talk with Manchester Campaign against Climate Change 

Time: 5pm

Venue: MMU Business School, G.34

In the lead up to the Time to Act march on Saturday 7th March 2015 we are screening Disruption Climate Change. It is an hour-long film, which highlights the consequences of ignoring climate change and focuses on the People’s Climate March in 2014, inspiring everyone to take action.

The film will be followed by an half hour talk and discussion of the issues raised in the film with a representative from the Manchester Campaign against Climate Change.

Climate Week

Some events are still being finalised but this is what is happening so far:

 

2 March

A day of film shorts

Time: 11.30 am – 7 pm

Venue: 4th Floor Benzie Building

A selection of short films running continuously throughout the day.  The films range from three minutes to one hour and are about various sustainability issues e.g. food, cycling, biodiversity.  Drop in whenever you fancy!

 

4 March

Manchester: A Certain Future – ‘Tell Us’ + Sustainable Futures Fair

Time: 2-6.30

Venue:  Main Hall, The New Union Building

Time: 4-6pm

Venue: Meeting Room 6, The New Union Building

 

This event gives you the chance to learn about all the great work happening at MMU and across Manchester. This is a FREE event so come on down, visit stalls, learn to repair you bike, grab some food samples, listen to talks and take part in our discussion tables.

If you have a project or idea that you want to showcase contact Ayma (syeda-ayma.h.kazmi@stu.mmu.ac.uk) to apply for a stall.

Pop Swap: Fashion & Book exchange

Time: 4-6pm

Venue: Main Hall, The New Union Building

A FREE fashion and book exchange, where you can swap unwanted items for other donated goods.  There is always loads of great stuff so you won’t be going home empty handed!  For more information  www.facebook.com/mmupopswap

People’s Climate March

The People’s Climate March is a global campaign to create awareness and reduce climate change.  Thousands of people have participated in marches worldwide, including Manchester. To find out more about the campaign here
